1. HIGH COUNCIL

The High Council, also known simply as the Jedi Council, is the primary Jedi Council of the Jedi Order. The High Council meets in the High Council Chamber in the Jedi Temple.

The High Council is a group of twelve wise and powerful Jedi Masters who are elected (each member appointed by unanimous vote of the current members) to guide the Order. The Council is made up of five lifetime members, four long-term members, and three limited-term members.

The terms of service on the Council are divided into three different lengths. Five members serve indefinitely; giving up their seats upon passing away or stepping down. Four long-term members have the opportunity of stepping down at any time, though they do not have to leave until they reach an approved end date to their service. To bring new perspectives and ideas to the Council, three limited-term members serve during certain crises or to bring the voice of different Temple organizations to the forefront. With the passage of time any of the long- or limited-term members could be elevated to another position within the Council, increasing the length of time served.

The elected leader of the Council is known as the Master of the Order and was often bestowed upon the acting Grand Master; the recognized leader of the entire Order.

The High Council is the sole distributor of the title of Knight to its members; this rule may sometimes loosened during times of war out of expedience.

With several satellite councils overseeing different regions of the World, the Council establishes a traditional Chamber of Conclave in the Jedi Temple, requesting members of these satellite councils report to the High Council annually.

As the governing body of the entire Jedi Order, the High Council's decision is final and to be respected by all Jedi.

Voting unanimously, the Council has the power to excommunicate a Jedi from the Order for disobeying its mandates.

Jedi Enclaves and Academies:

Smaller councils are created to have direct oversight of each Jedi enclave and academy and acted as watchmen for a region of the World. In some instances, members of the High Council seat on smaller Councils.

2. COUNCIL OF FIRST KNOWLEDGE

The Council of First Knowledge is one of the four Jedi Councils of the Jedi Order. The Council of First Knowledge meets in the Council Chambers of the Jedi Temple.

The Council of First Knowledge is made up of five Masters selected to oversee the Jedi Academy and the proliferation of knowledge and its storage in the Temple Archives. Additionally, the Council personally accepts the responsibility of eradicating any trace of Sith teachings and their artifacts throughout the World.

Meeting in the Council Chamber at the Jedi Temple, membership on the Council is granted through appointment after a vote of all members. A single permanent member sat for life or until they stepped down, and was known as the Caretaker of First Knowledge for they personally oversaw the protection of the Academy Archives.

The other four Masters rotate out after serving a five year term. Members of the Council often serve on one of the other Councils simultaneously, or had retired from the High Council and retained their membership.

Maintaining the Academy went hand in hand with preserving the knowledge banks at the Temple; if the base of knowledge did not constantly grow, the academy could not evolve and progress. Having direct oversight of the Librarian's Assembly, the Archives are presided over by a Chief Librarian who sometimes sat on the Council themselves. Members of the Council were granted access to the Vaults located within the Archives, a highly secured set of chambers used to protect documents, artifacts and their secrets. While working with Jedi Initiates' schooling, the Council is not inaccessible to older Jedi needing a different perspective on a dilemma. The Council could be queried for assistance on troubling topics that needed analysis by individuals who had experienced many missions and problems in their lifetimes.

The Council dedicates itself and its shadow agents to the recovery of Sith artifacts. Deeming the possession of such material illegal, agents of the Council were sent out to virtually eradicate all traces of the Sith.

Agents serving the Council worked primarily in the Hall of First Knowledge, consulting documents and making use of specialized chambers to seek out dark side activity.

3. COUNCIL OF RECONCILIATION

The Council of Reconciliation, sometimes referred to as the Reconciliation Council, was one of the four Jedi Councils of the Jedi Order. The Council of Reconciliation met in the Jedi Temple.

The Council of Reconciliation is made up of five Master Consulars tasked with negotiating with political factions and governments. Meeting in the circular Council Chamber at the Jedi Temple, membership on the Council is granted through appointment after a vote of all members. Two permanent members seat for life or until they stepped down, while the other three rotate out after serving a five year term. Due to the nature of the Council's dealings, variety in membership was needed, so that different Masters could lend their knowledge and expertise to a specific situation.

Working closely with the  Diplomatic Corps, the Council sought peaceful solutions to political debates that arose amongst different parties or different local governments. At the Council's disposal are the Consulars who are trained as diplomats or ambassadors, as well as a slew of Seers that assisted in making key decisions. Sometimes requested to deal with internal affairs, the Council would pass judgment over Jedi accused of falling to the dark side of the Force, or committing a crime. It is acceptable for other Jedi to appear at the hearing to offer testimony for the accused Jedi. The Council's decision is final, and respected by the other three Councils.

Members of the Council often serve on one of the other Councils simultaneously, or have retired from the High Council and retained their membership.

4. COUNCIL OF REASSIGNMENT

The Council of Reassignment is one of the four Jedi Councils of the Jedi Order. The Reassignment Council meets in  the Jedi Temple.

The Council of Reassignment is made up of five Jedi Masters tasked with leading the Jedi Service Corps and the Councils that governed each branch. Meeting in the austere Council Chamber at the Jedi Temple, membership on the Council is granted through appointment after a vote of all members. Two permanent members seat for life or until they stepped down, while the other three rotate out after serving a five year term.

Leading the Service Corps meant monitoring Jedi Initiates and their progress through the Jedi academy. If an Initiate failed to pass the Initiate Trials or the Force did not wish them to continue down the path of a Jedi Knight, the Council would step in and assign them to a branch of the Service Corps. Membership in the Corps is often viewed as a sign of weakness or failure; however, this was not the case. The Council would state that the work of the Corps aid world society just as a Knight would, however through use of other skills than wielding a lightsaber. The Council also looks after Padawans who failed the Jedi Trials or who are not selected for training by a Master. Membership is not restricted to those who failed out of the Academy; the Council also assigns full-fledged Knights and Masters to serve a rotation with the Corps.

To assist in the operation of the Corps, the Reassignment Council organized four smaller satellite Councils to directly oversee each of the branches of the Corps.

5. JEDI COMMAND

Jedi Command is the branch of the Jedi Order that oversee communications received. It is centralized in the Jedi Temple. All transmissions to Jedi Command come through the Jedi War Room where it went through a pyramidal hierarchy to distribute information through the Temple’s Map Rooms. Different teams monitored in detail very specific locations throughout the World. Potential problems were then transferred a different team to be scrutinized even closer. If the disturbance was in fact dangerous, this information would once again be transferred to the datascreens of senior Jedi, who would transfer all data to be plotted on the High Council’s map.

6. JEDI SERVICE CORPS

The Jedi Service Corps is an organization as an alternative to serving in the more traditional capacity of the Jedi Knights. Because it is run by the Jedi Order, the members of the Service Corps are all considered Jedi, though many of its members have failed to pass their Initiate Trials and therefore could not proceed in training at the Jedi Academy.

The Service Corps is considered an honorable alternative to serving in the Army of Light or the mainstream Order.

Organized under the Reassignment Council, the Corps is made up of four branches: the Agricultural Corps, the Medical Corps, the Educational Corps, and the Exploration Corps. Membership in each is voluntary and many ranking members of the Order joined, but if an Initiate had failed the Trials the Council took care of assigning them based on different skills and requirements.
